Review of Altec Lansing Mini H2O Bluetooth Speaker – Ultimate Beach Gear

When you are like us (music lovers) and planners of vacations you tend not to leave out beach essentials like a Bluetooth speaker to bring to the beach. Mind you we haven’t replaced our beach radio in a very, very long time. How long you might ask? This is what we have been dragging to the beach up until recently.

But, there comes a time to upgrade and make use of more modern technology like Bluetooth and rechargeable batteries that give us tunes while relaxing on the beach. And that time finally came.

While shopping at the local Target a few months before vacation, I spent some time listening to the many speakers on display. There were several, perhaps a dozen of the Bluetooth, portable type. But, listening to them reduced the total number being considered to five or, six models including a line of Altec Lansing speakers. My wife joined me in the aisle and we continued to deliberate.

Ultimately we decided on the Altec Lansing Mini H2O Bluetooth Speaker for its combination of decent sound, small size and price.

Altec Lansing Mini H2O Bluetooth Speaker in the Real World

We put the speaker through its paces for the better part of a week on the beach and were impressed with it.

The Bluetooth audio confirmation of a successful pairing with our phone was a surprise. But, out in the bright sunlight it’s nice not to have to confirm a connection via some tiny, flashing LED. The speakerphone was a nice to have feature too for the occasional call from family.

And that carabineer was damn handy! Yes, handy. Clip it on a beach bag and you are out the door for the day. And the battery really hung in there. Good sound and compact size, why didn’t we upgrade sooner?
